The pilgrimage continues

I first worked with the Taize Community in the early 90s.  I have the privilege of working with them in the Manila Pilgrimage of Trust.  Thanks to the Brothers, I got to know Manila broadly and had the glimpse of the iron city.

Years after, another pilgrimage was held in Don Bosco, Makati. I came as a pilgrim and a volunteer in the actual meeting.

It was a reunion of sorts and a way to reconnect with the inner voice.  Indeed, the way to peace is through trust and reconciliation.

Visiting places where climate change is so real

CHILDREN EVERYWHERE  (our official welcome party)

ADAPTABILITY since water could be just everywhere, even the pigs are secured.  They stay with humans sometimes...
I went to a densely populated isle...  Where climate change is lived and where the people normalized this occurrence.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT.  But this is nothing when the waters come rushing in.  The king of the island is simply the tides.

THE WATERS...  At least, the waters were not murky.  The ocean tides closed in.

NORMALIZED.  The kids welcome the water with glee (and all other creatures living and non-living). The microbiologists say otherwise.

ANOTHER ORDINARY DAY.  The lady washing her clothes beside the house pig while another kept them company.

WAITING.  Mother and child looking at the water...

The right to play

I helped a friend do some research with the Eskaya Communities located in the towns of Candijay, Duero and Sierra Bullones in Bohol Province. It was his last day of research and I tagged along happy to be his interpreter. (My interest: is added knowledge on the Eskayan culture and a good roadtrip on a Sunday!) On our way to one of the communities, we passed by this happy scene of people playing basketball.
Browsing through these photos (taken months ago), reaffirmed my belief that kids have the right to play... Happy children's month.
